Lloyd Tommila is a graduate of Portland State University, with a Masters in Conflict Resolution. His experience includes mediation, negotiation, conflict resolution training, group facilitation, community dialogue, process improvement, research, public policy and legislative work. Since 2005, he has served as a Senior Mediator for the Dispute Resolution Center (DRC) of Thurston County, mediating hundreds of cases spanning a broad range of needs, including family, workplace, property, organizational, multi-party, and victim-offender mediations.
Lloyd's education has emphasized cultural competency and social inequality, and he is keenly sensitive to clients in this regard. Lloyd trains community members and workplace groups to offer and improve their own dispute resolution processes, from training new mediators to training attorneys to improve their own collaborative negotiations.
Lloyd is called upon by the DRC and by private mediators he contracts with, for his expertise in difficult or unusual cases. He has been contracted to facilitate conferences, think tanks, and work groups. Lloyd's expertise and experience in Conflict Resolution is supported by his undergraduate studies in Sociology, the study of human interaction.
