Permaculture Workshop Weekend

This past weekend EOS and Terra Phoenix Design hosted two Permaculture Workshops, 101 and 202, at Seattle University. Dave Boehnlein of the Bullock’s Permaculture Homestead on Orcas Island taught the two-part course.

Saturday was a full day of the Basics, Permaculture Ethics and principles were explored in depth. Thirty-three workshop participants and a scattering of EOS Americorps members learned about the three PC Ethics: Care of the planet, Care of the people, and Careful process, that guide Permaculture design. We also learned about the thirteen PC Principles used to sort through and filter ideas in order to create the most useful and sustainable systems.

On Sunday we bundled up and headed outside to put these ideas to work on existing sites on Capitol Hill. We applied the process of site assessment, schematic design, and master planning to three locations in the SU area in order to get a real feel for the design process.

Thanks to all of our workshop participants and especially to Dave for a great weekend of Permaculture education!
