EOS volunteers at Issaquah's community Pickering Barn for MLK Day

Volunteers from the community as well as Washington Conservation Corps came out to donate their time. Volunteers focused their efforts on transplanting native plants, carving out a new walking trail, and prepping the various garden beds for spring!

The Pickering Garden is a demonstration garden that promotes environmentally friendly gardening techniques, encourages water conservation and healthy soils, and restore overall native natural habitat. The garden serves as an example of residential scale eco-friendly landscaping. The site is a gathering place for the community as well as an educational space. It complements the Pickering Trail and adjacent stream habitat restoration project.

The maintenance of the garden is largely dependent on volunteer labor. Come lend a hand to support the organic and pesticide free garden with a range of projects! It’s easy to become a garden steward. Click here for more info about volunteering at the garden!
